Hi Tom and other Healdsburgers. I’d like to announce the formation of a local public interest group called Healdsburg Citizens for Sustainable Solutions. The group’s long term objective is sustainable planning for our community’s future. The group’s current concern is the Saggio Hills development. There is a brief HCSS document that summarizes the group’s objectives and main Saggio concerns. We also have a lot of information—and questions— to share with the community, including a recent letter from an environmental attorney about deficiencies in the EIR, a letter from the California Oak Foundation regarding deficiencies in the EIR’s proposed mitigation of oak woodland destruction, detailed letters to City Council and Planning Commission about concerns with aspects of the project, citizen comments on the Development Agreement, the City’s response to a recent request for documents under the Public Records Act, and others.
Tom, would you be willing to post the letters, comments etc. referred to above, or otherwise assist the group’s efforts to foster a full and informed community discussion about Saggio Hills? We welcome any suggestions you may have. Thank you for considering this idea.
Tom, I did not email you a post on this because I’m at home and do not have access to your email address.
I’d be happy to post an announcement of your group’s creation, with a brief description and a link to where people can learn more. But to post all of the information you suggest is really a job for an anti-Saggio Hills site, I think. I’m trying to position Healdsburgers as a general-interest blog about the town, and I’d rather not make it a single-issue site.
I appreciate you putting this site together, Tom. While I have no specific comments on issues right now, I know I will in the near future. I look forward to hearing the comments of others in the community. Best regards, Hank Skewis
Janis Watkins’ group sounds like it should hook up with Richard Berg’s Hbg. Town Meeting group if it hasn’t already. One solid united organization is preferable to several. And, Saggio Hills notwithstanding, the General Plan update is also a current issue and is incredibly important to be focusing on.
The whole north end is going to be developed; participation in planning for that area is critical right now and touches on all kinds of issues relating to sustainable development of the city as a whole.
Just some thoughts….Hank Skewis
Heads up! Tomorrow night ( Feb. 12th) is a public hearing on the revised development agreement between Saggio Hills and the city. If you have something to say, this is as good a place to say it as any.
Hey Jeff; Wondering where you went….are you still interested in doing the site? Best, Hank Skewis
Very sorry to hear about your illness Jeff. Sounds like quite an ordeal. Good to hear you’re coming back from the dead. Hank Skewis
Who’s Jeff?
God knows, Dori. How embarrassing… I guess Tom rhymes with Jeff in my brain (!). Sorry, Tom, Hank Skewis PS: don’t forget the EIR hearing on Saggio Hills next Wed. ( april 16th) in front of the City Council.
Hey folks, let’s start putting comments on individual posts, rather than here on the About page. They’re more likely to be seen by the rest of the community.
Just checking to see how you are, and if it were possible to post a note about the Fourth of July celebration. We’re the 501c19 Non-Profit group of all volunteers who, for no salary have taken on the task of runnig a fireworks program for the 4th, since the City banned firworks 20 years, ago. This is our 19th year and we could use folk to mail in a couple of bucks. [ Just think - if everyone in HB sent in $2.00. We'd have 3/4 of it paid. ] I’m short about 6500.00 just to finish paying off the bill. [ Which is COD on the 4th ]If you can lend a hand, I’d appreciate passing the word on through even your own personal emails to friends throughout the City.
