We saw in a letter in the Tribune that Lotus Thai restaurant on the Plaza was going to close soon, so we made a point of going there for dinner last night. Tuesday 11/13 is their last night in business, so get there soon if you want to say goodbye.
Lotus Thai has been in business 12 years, the whole time we’ve been in Healdsburg (we moved here in 1999). We liked it not just for the food, but because it was a reasonably-priced restaurant on the Plaza (certainly a vanishing breed). They’re closing due to personal life changes happening to the owner, Jackie. She’ll be moving on to open a Thai grocery, Aroon Market on Cleveland in Santa Rosa, sometime next year.
Plans are that the space on the Plaza will become an Italian restaurant, opening in March of 2008.
Thanks to Jackie, Angie, and the rest of the crew at Lotus Thai for lots of yummy Thai food over the years. You’ll be missed.
